Continence Health Australia is once again on the hunt for Australia’s missing public toilets. The Great Dunny Hunt is back in 2026 to help uncover the hidden toilets and add them to the National Public Toilet Map.
This year’s hunt runs from Monday 23 March until Monday 15 June, which coincides with the start of World Continence Week 2026.
Despite the map already listing over 25,000 toilets, Continence Health Australia believes many ‘secret’ toilets remain unaccounted for – and many may be hiding in plain sight.
Locations might include libraries, campsites, parks and gardens or shopping centres that have public facilities and seem obvious to locals but could be missing from the Map.
The National Public Toilet Map relies on the community to manually upload dunny locations; it is not an automatic process done by all councils or shopping centres.
That means every dunny already listed has been graciously uploaded by a helpful human being.
With thousands of Australians relying on easy toilet access and the Map to supply the details, the public is encouraged to share local knowledge and help fill in the gaps.
Dunny Hunters are encouraged to share a picture of their newfound dunny on their social media to raise awareness with the hashtags #greatdunnyhunt #hidinginplainsight.

The National Public Toilet Map is a crucial resource for those living within continence. A recent consumer survey found 49% of respondents currently don’t feel comfortable embarking on long trips without knowing where the first toilet stop will be.
While knowing the proximity and accessibility of public toilets may not seem significant, for those Australians surveyed:
· 42% said incontinence has caused a reluctance to leave home.
· 25% are reluctant to go about daily activities.
· 22% say incontinence has affected their relationships with family or friends.
Whether it is a beachside toilet, a tucked-away park restroom, or an outback long drop, every discovery makes life easier for travellers, families, and those managing continence issues, especially around busy travel periods and school holidays.
Annually, there are more than 3.7 million searches for public toilets carried out on the National Public Toilet Map.
Dunny hunters can upload their submissions to the National Public Toilet Map, and include information on:
· Adult change facilities (including shower, BYO sling)
· Baby change
· Dump point (including wash out water, after hours access)
· Ambulant facilities
· Drinking water
· Sharps disposal
· Showers
· Sanitary, incontinence product disposal
· Right and/or left transfer – important for those with one side of the body less able
· Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) The Master Locksmiths Access
· Male, Female, All gender
