For over 35 years, the Australian Camps Association (ACA), a Registered NDIS Service Provider, has delivered structured, goal-based, disability inclusion program for kids, teens, and adults living with disability through its People Outdoors program.

Delivered in a camp setting, the program provides a unique opportunity to incorporate outdoor adventure and adapted camp-style activities into the capacity building program.

A selection of two-night through to three-night programs at residential camp locations are delivered throughout the year providing people living with disability the opportunity to experience the social and developmental benefits of adventure outdoors.

The program is designed to help participants build independence, daily living skills and social confidence through shared outdoor experiences. All programs are staffed by qualified Disability Support Workers (DSW).

Camp-based outdoor experiences provide valuable physical and emotional wellbeing and social benefits for all people, of all ability.

The People Outdoors program is offered in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland with opportunity to participate in traditional camp-style activities such as canoeing, flying fox, giant swing, ropes courses, swimming, bush walking, archery, yabbying, through the support of experienced disability support workers and qualified activity instructors.

Outdoor experiences are balanced with arts and crafts, discos, movie nights and cooking; building on camper’s independence and confidence by engaging in decision making, social interaction and group responsibility within a structured and supported setting.

Camps are a unique inclusion to NDIS plans for many Australians and are also available to people outside the NDIS or who just want to enjoy an adventure!

The Australian Camps Association has delivered:
