A New Destination Set to Redefine Family Entertainment in Melbourne's Southeast

August 19, 2026

Purpose-built 6,000sqm entertainment precinct combines adventure, dining and social experiences for children, families and adults under one roof.

A new standard of family dining and entertainment arrived in Melbourne's southeast with the opening of Hoopla Pakenham on Monday 3 August 2026. The $15 million purpose-built venue is a 6,000sqm entertainment destination, bringing together great food, exciting play experiences and quality time for the whole family under one roof.

Moving beyond the traditional indoor play centre, Hoopla has been created as a destination where every member of the family can enjoy themselves. At the heart is Hoopla Kitchen & Bar, a full-service restaurant offering café-style breakfasts, pub classics, barista-made coffee and a fully licensed bar. Hoopla gives parents a reason to enjoy their visit just as much as the kids, with comfortable dining and social spaces that keep them close to the action.

Built around this philosophy, Hoopla seamlessly combines dining, bowling and interactive play under one roof. The venue is home to one of Australia’s largest interactive soft playgrounds, complete with a fully enclosed toddler arena, giving children endless opportunities to slide, explore and play. The venue also features a dedicated race car track where budding drivers can take the wheel.

Adults can also unwind in dedicated social spaces with billiards, sports screens and a fully licensed bar, while still remaining part of the family experience. Guests can also challenge each other in the expansive arcade, featuring everything from nostalgic classics like Space Invaders to the latest interactive games. Bowling enthusiasts can enjoy ten modern lanes, including eight mini “Blitz” lanes and two Classic lanes, making Hoopla the perfect destination for all ages.

Wayne Gardiner, Operations Manager at Hoopla, said the venue had been designed to challenge expectations of what a family entertainment centre can offer.

“We didn’t build Hoopla just for kids, we built it for families. If the kids are having an amazing time but parents can't wait to leave, we’ve missed the mark. We wanted to create somewhere the whole family looks forward to visiting together. Seeing that vision come to life in Pakenham is incredibly rewarding, and we can’t wait to welcome families through our doors.”

Hoopla Pakenham officially opened in August 2026, inviting families to discover a new kind of entertainment destination. One where great food, play and connection come together, and where parents choose to be, not tolerate.
