The Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation (VDSR) Awards are a celebration of the achievements of sportspeople with a disability, the coaches, organisations, officials and volunteers who support them and the inclusive sport and recreation sector across Victoria.

Progressive PR & Communications (PPR&C) have for the past three years delivered a PR campaign around Victoria and to relevant national media to raise awareness about this fantastic event which provides an opportunity to discover unsung heroes, rising stars and to celebrate what is truly remarkable about accessible and inclusive sport.

Progressive PR & Communications generated national and Victorian publicity across TV, print, radio and online for the finalists and eventual winners.

Our approach

PPR&C first aimed at generating news media stories in the lead up to the Awards focusing on the announcement of the finalists in the various Award categories.

After the Awards evening, the announcement of the Award winners was used to attract additional media attention.

The local media of all the finalists were targeted in the lead up to the Awards night with great success. TV, radio and newspaper interviews around Victoria were all co-ordinated for finalists.

Relevant national, metropolitan and state-wide media were also informed of the finalists and offered interviews.

Campaign highlights in terms of coverage were an ABC Radio National Life Matters interview, ABC Melbourne Conversation Hour interview and an ABC News 24 Breakfast TV interview.
